While a lot of effort goes into ensuring the accuracy of any technical book, occasionally, some errors make their way into the books.

This page is dedicated to identifying and sharing errors  identified in the MCITP Guide to Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Enterprise Administration, Exam # 70-647 (ISBN-10: 1423902394).

Page Correction
Page 7, 8 Activity 1-1 (steps 15, 16, verifying connectivity with Ping).
The Windows Firewall blocks pings by default when you install the evaluation edition of Windows Server 2008.  The version used when the book was first created didn't block Pings.
To enable Pings from DC1 and DC2, perform one of the following tasks:

1) Allow ping requests through the firewall

  1. Click Start, Control Panel
  2. Double-click the Windows Firewall
  3. Select Allow a program through Windows Firewall
  4. Select the checkbox next to File and Printer Sharing (which enables echo replies)
  5. Click OK. Close all open Windows.

2) Or , turn the Windows Firewall off

  1. Click Start, Control Panel
  2. Double-click the Windows Firewall
  3. Select Turn Windows Firewall On or Off
  4. Select Off. Click OK. Close all open Windows.

If you know of errors in this book, please let me know.
